Email Problems

Q. I have a windows 7/8 machine and when I try to email an r/o it tell me I have to install an email program and create an association to it, I already use gmail (or yahoo) (or your online email) what do I do?

Answer:

First you want to click on start and then on Windows Mail, (Note - you may have to go to Microsoft and download Windows Live if it isnt already installed or available for you.) set up Windows Mail with your Gmail ID and password.
This will connect to your gmail account and bring across all your folders and existing email from your gmail account.
Then click on start and default programs, highlight windows mail and then click on “set this program as default”.
Exit Maxxtraxx and go back in and you should be able to email fine.

*more to this than meets the eye. There are specific setup instructions for each email type (hotmail, yahoo, gmail) for each email program (windows live mail, firefox, etc). Suggest googling if you get stuck setting that up for them.

Emailing Repair Orders

Q. My ROs view and print fine. But when I email a copy to my customers, the formatting is wrong. The various data fields overlap as if the font is too large. Is there some setting that controls this?

Answer:

The font size in the PDFs is controlled by the Windows display properties. In XP, open your Control Panel, and click on Display. Choose Appearance and check the Font Size box in the lower left. It should be set to “Normal”.

If you are running Vista, again, from the Control Panel, choose Personalization. Under Tasks, open Adjust font size (DPI) and set to “Default scale (96 DPI)”.

And if you have Windows 7, from the Control Panel, open Display, and set to “Smaller – 100% (default)”.

Mailing Labels

Q. I want to use different size address labels for my marketing letters, can this be adjusted?

Answer:

Yes, in Setups,Company Information,Printing Defaults, the label and paper sizes for different print jobs can be selected. If the paper size or label configuration you want to use is not listed in the current defaults, you can add new options to the list using the “Add” button. This allows you to define and configure any size and label formats you’d like to use.
